Completed Front Cover

Photoshop manipulation of images

I chose to use this image to manipulate and add to my magazine and the front cover. The reasons i chose this image is because i thought it would go best with the background design of my magazine, from the dress i made her wear. Also the lighting in this image is bright; as for some other images i had taken were quite low on lighting.

I then cut the image out on photoshop and edited it slightly but made a mistake of covering some parts of her skin near her eyes which made the image look weird, so i re-added the image to the one below.

The image above is the beats speakers as i was about to edit it in photoshop. I took away the background and just cut around the speakers and the iphone. The speakers are something to win on the front of my magazine which helps draw in readers. Also the screen test of the audience is were i had the idea to use some speakers as a winning prize. This is from the person who i had recorded had said they mostly listen to this type of music, being R&B and Hip-Hop, through speakers loud enough for them to hear whilst getting ready mostly.

I didn't use this image for the front cover of my magazine because the reasons of that this picture is fairly dark and doesn't look bright enough to be on a R&B magazine because its quite a happy and uplifting genre.

I used this image as it is brightly coloured reflecting off the model and also I decided this dress goes best with the background of the magazine I will be using.

Detailed Draft Front Cover

I chose to use a plug to win something in my R&B music magazine. I decided to use a winning prize of a concert as this relates to the audience. On my target audience video they say that they like going to see concerts, and have seen a various amount of R&B/POP artists.

The plug for this R&B music magazine is also to win something, but on this magazine it will be to win some speakers. This is because this is also relating back to the audience as the audience on the video said they love to listen to music out loud at home whilst getting ready.

Props and Location

A graffiti wall to reflect the R&B of rap singers whereas a more landscape area would reflect more fo singers in a R&B/ hip-hop genre, also having a bar room would create a more relaxed scenery of normal life for the artists.

Explanation of all this and how they are relevant as part of scenery.

My cast for the farm look scene will be wearing make up but not too over the top just natural, with hair looking very natural which will conote the rural farm look scene. They will be wearing an innocent floaty looking dress which also reflects the rural scene of the shoot.
In the graffiti scene my cast will be wearing a dress to make them stand out more, but not necessarily brighter colours as the background of graffiti will just clash with it. The make up will be bold as it goes with the theme of graffiti and R&B.

For the images of pictures of the groups i will be using the graffiti wall scenery if i was to definitely use a group picture; as it has great effect and will go with it perfectly. You can relate graffiti scene to R&B easily as it does have the conventions of R&B.

For single people in photos in the two images above I will be having a rural background with it if i wish to carry out a single artist on the cover of my magazine. This is because I feel someone stood on their own in a photo makes the photo look more natural especially in a rural area. The rural area wont just be a backdrop of set it will be in an actual countryside.

Photographic Influences

I have chose these magazines as part of my photographic influences because these are artists that R&B audiences see as their inspirations and the main artists of the last few years. For example Michael Jackson went up in the charts just after he died because people find him as an inspiration and will always be the 'legend' of time.
Also i have chosen magazines with artists that have been mentioned on the front covers or pictures of them have been put on the front covers, which both rap, sing or both. For example Beyonce, Rihanna and One Direction as singers and Drake as a rap artist.

Media animation

My magazine that I am doing is going to have a genre of R&B. This is because I enjoy R&B music the most and I know more about this type of music than any other. Also I have been to see a few R&B artists in concert so I will have my own pictures what I will be able to use, instead of having no pictures as we are unable to use any internet photos as its copyright.

I need to make a new magazine that isn’t just a re copy of another magazine or the same name and different genre, it has to be new! Making my magazine I will include a front page, contents page and a double page spread. The magazine will also need at least 4 original images.

Brief

The front cover page, contents page and double page spread of a new music magazine. All images and text used must be original and produced by you - minimun of four images.
