1. In what ways does your media products use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media?
Final pieces completed of front cover, contents page and double page spread:

Below I have a picture of my final product for my front cover, contents page and double page spread, each of them with a picture of a real magazine of the front cover, contents page and double page spread which I have used to influence myself of each. Each of the three were from different magazines.

Contents page of my magazine

My final product of my magazine which includes the front cover, contents page and double page spread creates continuity throughout each one. Including the features that are shown in the contents page and some of them are shown on the front cover as well as Lucie Hart the star of my magazine who is featured on all three parts of the magazine. The colour scheme of a grey background, with colours of red, black and white been the main foreground colours. The colours I have used for my magazine are bold, bright and say my magazine is loud. Also with the same text font used for each of the same words and names shows continuity. All these features and effects of my magazine which show continuity connote that they are all part of the same magazine.
The liiar analysis below shows how I used each and every conventional feature

2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Before I began my magazine i researched some artists which i could reflect my magazine from and the type of clothing, jewellery and attitude to complete a good detailed magazine. I found two magazines both of which were R&B magazines featuring Nicki Minaj on a double page spread and Eminem on a front cover. I took the attitude from both artists and created my own artist 'Lucie' to look and make her sound like in the text to have the same attitude as them both.
I chose the outfit of a plain black dress to use as my magazine has multiple colours of grey, white, red and black and I thought black was the best colour to chose for this as it can go with any other colour and would fit in with my magazine.
Also i was influenced by the three artists which I have posted on question 1 of Beyonce, Eminem and Drake. These artists are all wearing dark, dull colours, for example black and greys. This connotes them having an attitude and not just from their facial expression. Lucies make up made her stand out as the main artist for the magazine. I showed this particularly by putting a bright red lipstick on her; not only does it make her look like the center of the magazine but she looks more attractive to the audience.
3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
In my opinion my R&B magazine is set out mostly for girls but can also be read by males but I feel the female gender would be more interested in reading it. Which is why I have chosen Cosmopolitan magazine for my magazine to be distributed by. This is because Cosmopolitan is a girls magazine and I could promote their magazines inside my magazine as well as promoting my own music magazine at the same time. Also this magazine has a lot of different sections mentioned inside it, however none of them are music; this would maybe make more people to read my magazine if it was promoted by Cosmopolitan and vice verser.
However this magazine is a beauty and clothes magazine whereas if I was to chose a music genre magazine to be my rival I would most probably see Inter-media Partners to be the best institution to distribute my magazine, who are the publishers of 'VIBE'; which is a magazine of which I got my ideas of how to set out my front cover from. Intermedia Partners specializes in the music related industry and more of an R&B genre from the same as my magazine

All these magazines have near enough the same conventional features and brings the audience into the magazine to read it. The images on the front of the magazines are both independent and major artists, and at least one of them has turned down a major artist role and wanted to carry on as themselves.
4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
My chosen target audience for my R&B magazine is aimed at teenagers up to the age of around 24. This is because R&B attracts more people of that age group and can be attractive to both genders, of men and women. When this genre of albums and songs are produced they are produced towards and focusing on this group of people. The celebrities I have placed in and on my magazine are featured in this genre which also represents this age group.
At the beginning of producing my magazine I researched which main conventions my audience are appealed to the most and enjoy reading.
As I researched who was the most popular gender to buy R&B magazines the results were slightly increased by the male gender. So in my videos below I asked two males and one female; the males of which were different ages but all still in my aimed age band.
Charlie Hunt, aged 17
Connor Rose, aged 16
5. How did you attract/address your audience?
On the front cover of my magazine I have added a plug to win a product; this makes the audience feel like they are more interacted in the magazine and makes them want to read into the magazine to find out more about how to win the product, of speakers in this case.
6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Main programs I used:
>Photoshop
>Prezi
>Dafont.com
>Blogger; using Blogger helps me to update my work easily and quickly. Every time something is completed within Photoshop the file attaches to Blogger automatically and updates it without having to update every little manipulation onto it.
7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Preliminary task: Music Magazine:
My preliminary magazine product is the first image posted on this question, which I started at the beginning of the year. Personally I think I have improved a lot since the preliminary task was set to how my music magazine is now. From looking at areas of camera angles and shots with my model to getting used to Photoshop and having to work all my production of my magazine off there; manipulating pictures, texts and adding and deleting layers.
From the beginning of the year to now the thing I have learnt the most about how to make a magazine is the conventional features which run through every magazine going. Technologies in question 6 helped me to complete my magazine and I would say Photoshop and Blogger is the software I have used the most and wouldn't have been able to complete my music magazine without it.
The comparisons from my preliminary task to my music magazine which I have just completed are massive. I believe that their is a complete change. On my college magazine I have used only a thin masthead instead of a font which is bold and makes it stand out from the rest of the magazine, but here it makes the front cover of this magazine to look more like a poster. Whereas on my music magazine I have used a bold font from dafont.com then editing it in Photoshop. On my college magazine I have wrote across my model which doesn't show a good look towards my magazine however on my music magazine I have set it out like a real magazine using Vibe as my influence. Also my music magazine is a lot more detailed in many ways.
On my music magazine I would improve the models image of the way she looks on my magazine; this is because I would have preferred her to have more attitude in her facial expressions like I do on the double page spread and contents page. I would also liked to have changed how the Beyonce texts overlaps my model slightly, as it stands out in a negative way as none of the other text on the front cover does.
Three quarters of the way through my music magazine I found a lot of problems with it including the colour schemes not matching throughout and I found that it wasn't a suitable layout for it; so with that I started my magazine all over again from scratch, including having to take more photos of my model. However for my new magazine I just dressed my model in the same black dress throughout taking the photos as I had my mind set on what theme I was hitting this time; also that when I tried different outfits from my first music magazine I came to a conclusion that I wouldn't go for a coloured outfit. With looking at the layout of my first magazine which I decided to re-start has shown to be a good thing for starting again as it looks like more of a poster than a magazine. Also the layout of the plugs and pieces of text don't show conventional features of a real magazine.
The two images below show the magazine I decided to change and the other image of my final magazine.
